CoCoDat: Collation of Cortical [single neuron + neuronal microcircuitry] Data

CoCoDat is a microcircuitry database that contains not only bibliographic references, but also data and parameter values from published experimental reports. The data characterize the experimental procedures, the brain structure (region, layer, neuron type and cellular compartment), as well as the experimental results obtained in the six categories: The database is available for download under the GNU public licence as a MS Access 2000 mdb file that contains not only the data tables but also a Search Board with powerful data retrieval and display options. For example, we implemented routines for manual or automatic relaxation of the search criteria along the four dimensions: This is useful when the specifically searched item is not available or when additional information on similar investigations is desired.

The structure, contents and capabilities of CoCoDat have been described in a forthcoming paper in the Journal of Neuroscience Methods (currently online at Elsevier ahead of print).

As an alternative, catalog presentation of the data can be viewed here, which was generated with Axiope's ODBC interface and Catalyzer software from the database tables.
